Unfortunately, one cannot ask to be made a Moderator. One earns it.

Be nice and helpful. You will get noticed. But then, everybody cannot become Moderators. The current team of Moderators will select new Moderators. That's how the system works. If the management feels there is a shortage of Moderators, they 'recruit' new ones.

Gallery Moderators moderate the galleries. They may remove images that violate the provisions of the TOS. Moderators have global rights in the sense that they can do what the Gallery Moderators can, but the Gallery Moderators do not have Moderator rights in the general forums.

Promotions do take place. Jr. Gallery Moderators do get promoted to Gallery Moderators, and Gallery Moderators become Moderators. Sometimes even ordinary members get selected to become Moderators. If you feel someone is fit to be a Moderator, do send a note to either hog or Kristie detailing why you think he/she would qualify.

Note: Moderator, Gallery Moderator and Jr. Gallery Moderator positions are not paid. They are volunteers. Gallery Moderators and Moderators must be at least 18 years of age.

Moderator Emeritus

Some Moderators have pulled back from active duty on spymac due to various reasons. Their title will read "Moderator Emeritus". They're still Moderators, only they will oversee things when they get ample time on their hands.
