The spymac Terms of Service is what governs what you can do on this
site, and what you cannot. Please be familiar with the general rules
laid down in the TOS to avoid getting into trouble.
Spymac Terms of
Service
Flouting the terms laid down in the TOS can fetch you bans ranging from
a couple of days, to being permanently banned. So please treat fellow
members with respect. You may disagree with a persons views, but please
be civil, explaining why you disagree, and not resort to personal
attacks, name-calling or other unpleasant behaviour.
Recently, some rules have been tightened. There are areas of Spymac
where things have gotten out of hand, and people are being pushed away
from Spymac because of the harrassment they have received.
So, Moderators are going to tighten things up. As of now, personal
attacks and hate speech will not get a warning. Instead, there will be
an immediate suspension. No excuses.
First occurance, Spymac priviledges suspended for a minimum of one day.
Second occurance, Spymac priviledges suspended for a minimum of three
days.
Third occurance, Spymac priviledges suspended for a minimum of one week.
The moderators can't be everywhere all the time, so if you see a
personal attack, contact a moderator.
For those not sure, hate speech is where you attack a group, and a
person for being a member of that group. Disparaging something by saying
"That's so gay" is hate speech. Categorizing political groups by
political positions is not hate speech ("You liberals just like coddling
criminals" and "You right wingers want to lock up anyone who disagrees
with you" is not accurate but isn't hate speech) but applying negative
personal attributes to political groups is hate speech ("Democrats are
pussies" and "Republicans are Nazis" is hate speech.)
If you have been attacked or otherwise harrassed, contact a moderator.
If you respond with a personal attack, you will be banned too.
Again, if you want to disagree with someone, disagree with what they
said. You can say "That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard", you
can't say "You're stupid for believing that".
