Avatars are what appear on your passport. It could be a photograph of
yourself, or just some picture you like. Spymac does provide you with
some avatars to choose from, but you may upload a image of your choice
while keeping it to a convenient size. 100x100 pixels was what seemed to
be the ideal size, until I uploaded a 500x500 pixel one and it came out
fine.
The Web OS resizes, masks and frames images uploaded to Spymac based on
the characteristics of each individual image, advanced algorithms and a
touch of random behavior. User avatars are all handled in the same
fashion, and so, if you uploaded your avatar more than once, you'd
probably see a different effect each time.
To change your avatar,
Change my avatar. You can see this option in the Tools page right
below your avatar, or in the Options page under Optional Profile
Information.
If after successfully uploading a new avatar, you do not see it, but
rather see the old avatar, right/control-click your avatar and choose to
view or open it in a new tab or window. Then manually refresh/reload
that window and you should see your new avatar.
Sometimes you upload a new
avatar and see it framed in a kaleidoscopic or "echo" manner. It looks
weird; a tiny avatar in a large, mostly empty white frame. Dont worry...
it's just that the image did not get processed properly. You upload the
image
again, and it should work just fine.
Please try not to use images that may be inappropriate.
Tip:
If you click on an avatar, it flips over to reveal some quick links as
can be seen in the image below:

The quick links can take you to all the features currently being used by
that particular person. If you'll notice, all the features are linked to
his/her member-id.
Profile: Click here to know some
more information about the member. IM, website, personal
description...it's all there. If you notice, the link to member profiles
look like this: http://www.spymac.com/member.php?memberid=XXXXXX, where
the 'XXXXXX' at the end is the member-id. Another alternative to viewing
member profile is using the member-name. You almost always know
member-names than you do member-ids, right? So, what you have to do is
modify the link as: http://www.spymac.com/member.php?membername=YYYYYY
and replace the 'YYYYYY' at the end with the member-name you want.
Blog: Click here to view his/her
blog. If you cant view it this way, try this link: http://www.spymac.com/weblog/?pageid=XXXXXX
where XXXXXX is that persons member-id, which you can see if you let
your mouse hover over the profile link. The last numbers are the
member-id.
Web: Click here to go that persons
website on spymac.
Posts: Click here to view all posts
made by that member.
Pictures: Click here to view that
persons member gallery.
You can also add that member to your mutual friends list by sending
him/her an invite, or ignore him/her if he/she is bothersome. You can
also send that person a note.
